Announcing the Boulevard Editorial Assistantship

We are excited to announce that we’re launching an editorial assistantship at Boulevard. Every semester, we’ll have space for one editorial assistant, a position that can be renewed once for a maximum of two semester. For each semester-long position (13 weeks), we will provide a stipend of $500 and expect editorial assistants to work 10 hours a week.

Editorial assistants will be responsible for reading and reviewing submissions, helping create social media marketing campaigns, proofreading issues, and communicating with authors as part of our small, laidback, and supportive team. This position is open to undergraduate and graduate students in the greater St. Louis area and will report directly to our Managing Editor Griffin Reed.

We strongly urge candidates who cannot receive funding from their colleges and universities for unpaid internships to apply as well as those from backgrounds typically underrepresented in publishing.

Those attending schools with robust compensation programs, those who need an unpaid internship for school credit, and those who simply wish to dip their toes into the literary magazine experience (so read some submissions and maybe not work the hours suggested above), should consider applying to our existing internship program by emailing a resume and cover letter to editors@boulevardmagazine.org. You’ll still have the opportunity to read submissions, work on social media, and proofread the issue.

For questions, please reach out to Griffin at editors@boulevardmagazine.org. She’ll be happy to help you figure out if your school has a compensation program.

Applications will be processed through Submittable. Please submit a cover letter, resume, and a writing sample here.
